Tai Hoi-Ying

Born in 1946 in Guangdong, he moved to Hong Kong in the 1960s and settled in Paris in 1970. In 1975, he held his first solo exhibition at the Dragon Gallery in Paris and subsequently continued to receive invitations from major art exhibitions, participating in several important shows. These include an exhibition at the Hervé Odermatt Gallery in Paris in 1979, participation in the Paris International Contemporary Art Fair (FIAC) and an exhibition at the Silkborg Modern Gallery in Denmark in 1980, and a solo exhibition at the Platanes Gallery in Switzerland in 1989.

Although TAÏ has lived in Paris, France for many years and uses Western techniques in his paintings, his profound Chinese culture has a profound background, so his paintings always carry a calm oriental idea. His works are warm and bright, but also calm and introverted. The setting sun and gentle light in the picture are like a dull afternoon or a fresh holiday morning. TAÏ 's depiction of "scenery" shows Magic Realism. For many years, he stood by the window, painting through the sunlight in the studio and created plain themes with elegant temperament paintings. In recent years, the works have become bright and more vigorous, with vivid charm, the technique of calligraphy has changed to impressionistic, and the use of color has escaped from tranquility. The aesthetic consciousness of both Eastern and Western cultures, through the passage of time, has been uniquely integrated and expressed in the works of TAÏ.
